Waukesha, WI. The Waukesha Downtown Business Association (WDBA) is hosting a special edition of the popular Waukesha Freeman Friday Night Live on Saturday, August 31st during the Harley Davidson 110th Anniversary celebration. Free parking will be available, and a special motorcycle parking area has been dedicated in Riverfront Plaza Lot 1 along the Fox RiverWalk. The lot will open up to Harley riders Saturday afternoon after the Farmer’s Market.
The WDBA at its August meeting decided to embrace the Harley Riders by providing the same type of event that Waukesha has been known for, which is a family friendly event on the streets of downtown Waukesha.
In working with City of Waukesha staff and department heads, the WDBA in cooperation with the city will run the event the same as our current Friday Night Event. This means the same footprint of street closing will be used with parking on the streets limited after 5pm and the streets closed to traffic from 6 -9 pm. The same rules we follow on Friday Nights of no open intoxicants on the streets will be followed along with the no carry in rules that presently apply. In addition the WDBA has agreed with recommendations of department heads about an additional need of police officers, trash pick-up and port-a-potties for our visiting guests from Harley Davidson’s 110th Anniversary Celebration. The WDBA has paid in advance for those determined services.
The WDBA believes we have a lot to offer visitors to our area on Labor Day Weekend. Our regular scheduled WDBA Friday Activities 6-9pm will take place along with our successful Saturday’s Farmer’s Market from 8 – noon along Riverfront Plaza. In addition Waukesha’s Walking Tour of ten-foot guitars and playable guitars, which also features Waukesha GuitarTown new murals that are displayed throughout downtown on the walls of our historic city?
The Les Paul Exhibit at the Waukesha County Museum and the Les Paul Memorial Monument at Prairie Home Cemetery offers history lovers a great nostalgic taste of Waukesha.
