The official Waukesha Reads kickoff for 2014 will begin this weekend and will run through November 7th throughout downtown Waukesha.
For this year’s Big Read, Waukesha will read and celebrate “Great Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe.” Free copies of the book are currently available at the Public Library.
Below are some of the highlighted Big Read events and other venues that are giving away free copies of the book:
Friday, September 26th, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Waukesha’s Friday Night Live:
Additional free copies of this year’s read and program information will also be available during the final 2014 Waukesha’s Friday Night Live.
There will also be a “Painting Poe Together” stand during Friday Night Live. This great collaborative painting event is hosted by the Waukesha Community Arts Project, and is open to people of all ages and abilities at 320 South St. Instructions and materials will be provided, and he finished “Painting Poe Together” piece will be displayed at the Waukesha Public Library!

Waukesha Farmers’ Market:
Additional free copies of this year’s read and program information will also be available during the Waukesha Farmers’ Market.
- Drop off books for Children’s Books for Hope.

Eyes in the Night – “Once upon a midnight dreary…”
Edgar Allan Poe saw a raven. Whose eyes do we see at night?
Meet nocturnal animals that come out in Wisconsin nights, presented by Wildlife in Need Center. All ages welcome.

Waukesha County Museum:
Night at the Museum: Quest for the Treasured Water
On this 40-minute guided quest, costumed actors will help you follow the clues to find the treasured water. Meet the infamous Poe raven.
Ticketed event: $5/person, sold at the door.
Tours every 15 minutes, last tour at 8:30 p.m.

Waukesha Art Crawl #83:
The 83rd Waukesha Art Crawl will feature an exhibit based on Poe’s work, created by local artists.
