THE AUSTIN AIRSTREAM VISITS WAUKESHA GUITARTOWN AS PART OF THEIR 2013 SUMMER ROAD TOUR
WAUKESHA, WI – The Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau (Austin CVB) is hitting the road again this summer with its famed Airstream. One of its first stops is in downtown Waukesha at the site of one of the Les Paul murals recently finished on June 9th as part of Waukesha 2013 GuitarTown project.
Austin, known as Live Music Capital of the World®, also celebrated the GuitarTown project and placed the Gibson Guitar sculptures throughout the city in November 2006. “We’re thrilled to be able to bring a little piece of Austin to the Waukesha community,” said Brian Gannon, Austin CVB Music & Film Marketing Manager. “Growing up in Oconomowoc, I was of course aware of the cultural significance of Waukesha being the birthplace of Les Paul. Gibson has always been a great partner of ours, and we continue to feel honored to be such a big part of the legacy he left behind.”

What is the Austin Airstream?
The Austin Airstream is a 30-foot vintage, refurbished 1970s trailer designed by local artisans, complete with an onboard music studio and area inside ideal for conducting interviews, and private concerts. Additionally, it acts as a mobile visitor’s center to help promote the city of Austin around the country.
The Austin CVB will be:
- Giving away Gibson guitar swag from the Austin Showroom (picks, straps and special string sets)
- Previewing and giving away Austin Music Volume 12 CD’s
- Registering folks for the ACL giveaway and giving away Austin t-shirts, posters and other Austin swag
- Driving the Airstream to some Les Paul landmarks for photo opportunities
Waukesha GuitarTown 2013 builds on the momentum of last year and will continue to unite area businesses with the community in an effort to celebrate its cultural contributions. It is an initiative that aims to help Waukesha achieve the goal of becoming the best small city in the United States.
The project recently launched a new website called LiveLoveWaukesha.com where all information and websites are linked to find out information on Downtown Waukesha events. The honorable Mayor Jeff Scrima will be in attendance to help commemorate the collaboration between the two cities.
